Happy Republic Day, 26th January 2022, India is celebrating its 73rd republic day. Many often mixed Independence Day and Republic day.

Independence day v/s Republic day

Independence Day celebrated as freedom from British rule and Republic day is when the Constitution of India came into effect on 26th January 1950.

A special committee was made to draft a permanent constitution for Independent India, Dr BR Ambedkar was made the chairman of the committee.

On November 1947, the committee drafted the constitution and submitted in assembly. It almost took 2 years for the assembly to finally adopt the constitution.

 On 24th Jan 1950, the member of the assembly signed 2 hand written versions of the (Constitution) agreement, One in Hindi & One in English. After two days of signing the 2 hand written versions, the constitution came into effect.

The core of the Constitution was to ensure the fundamentals rights which should be enjoyed by all citizens of India (Country) regardless of their political beliefs, cast, and culture.

Every year in “New Delhi” the republic day celebration parade took place, which feature breathtaking military and cultural parade, where with military all the states participate and show their history, cultures and represent there state and this epic show also display everything happening across the country on this  auspicious day.

Republic day parade only starts when the President of India is arrived, and chief guest invited in this parade are the leaders of the particular nation. And the first chief guest who has been invited was President Sukarno of Indonesia in 1950.


Once the President of India arrived, the parade starts with the National Anthem followed by a 21-gun salute.

The president of India also distributes Padma Awards to deserving civilians of the country to honour their contribution to nation. Brave soldiers are awarded Paramvir Chakra, Ashok Chakra, and Vir Chakra by the President of India.

Live telecast/webcast of Republic day parade is air every year to millions of people from “DD National” to many TV channels and over internet.
